EXAMPLES
Our crew of shipwrights have completed many and varied projects over the years. From new teak and cedar decks to new planks, stems and transoms. We have recently completed a full restoration of a classic schooner, replacing every piece of wood save the keel and the ceiling.
Cabinetry and Interior
Boats are never square, which makes finish carpentry a bit trickier! We take pride in making the right piece to fit the needs of the boat and the owner. Using traditional craftsmanship and skills, we have designed and built many fine interiors, from classic yachts to commercial fishing boats and everything in between.
PAst project examples
Recent projects include a highlight box around a Dickinson stove installation, a new pilothouse bookcase/seat/stowage compartment and pilothouse cabinetry with a pull out berth and bookshelves.
Fabrication
When the needed parts don't exist or are hard to come by, we make them. When the off-the-shelf part does not quite fit the bill we can modify it bring it up to the level required. Through bending, brazing, welding, turning, milling, machining and casting we are confident we can make the components you need for your boat.
PAST PROJECT EXAMPLES
A pair of new aluminum fuel tanks, new stainless steel hawse pipe rings, a gear-driven mount for raising and lowering a transducer, hanger bolts and studs machined and turned to match specialized threading and specs needed.
Diesel Engines
We are licensed dealers for Volvo, Isuzu, Yanmar, FPT, Northern Lights, Westerbeke and Universal.
In addition to providing engines and parts, our certified mechanics bring troubleshooting skills and pragmatic design solutions to every project. From oil changes to repowers our team at Haven Boatworks has you covered.

We perform regular hourly services on generators and engines, engine inspections for owners and prospective buyers and will troubleshoot to find the solution to your engine issues as they arise.
Finishes
We've won awards at the Victoria Classic Boat Festival and gained the admiration of the northern troll fleet at the same time because we understand what a boat needs in the way of finish.
EXAMPLES
Services we offer include: both traditional single part paint and two part paint applications, brightwork (both traditional and Awlwood), repairs ranging from cosmetic gelcoats to structural fiberglass repair as well as hull polishing and bottom painting.
Rigging & Spar Making
We brings to your project not only high-level technical skill, but also the pragmatism born of long and varied experience at sea. We’ve crossed oceans, commercially fished most Alaskan fisheries, cruised the Inside Passage, worked in high latitudes and raced a variety of boats.
Over our years at sea we’ve seen rig failures ranging from running rig annoyances to dismastings in the Gulf of Alaska. We understand what it is to design and build a refined and robust rig for most any boat.
Contemplating a new standing rig? A tapered halyard to take advantage of the new high modulus lines? Frustrated by running rigging that never seems to run as smoothly as it could? Need a new suite of hydraulic winches for your tender, and custom made brackets to suit? We’d love to help you sort the rig out and will do so without undo complication.
Recent PAst project examples
An overhaul of a traditionally rigged Murray Peterson schooner, a new standing and running rig for a Bob Perry quarter Tonner (AKA a light air monster by the Puget Sound fleet), modifying a Dragon mast to accept a strong tack (the owner reports his main has never been easier to handle), a new build of a hollow foremast for a HC Hanson forest patrol vessel and new 50’ aluminum poles and davits for an Alaskan fishing vessel.

The final answer to all engineering in any vessel is in the propeller and alignment. We have a lot of experience on many types of vessels to ensure your propulsion is efficient and smooth.
Systems
There's a lot going on between thinking “light, heat, water” and seeing the lights turn on, furnaces pump heat and faucets running. The systems are complex and we've got the tools, materials, experience and ingenuity to make sure your boat takes care of your needs.
